Blomkamp's Alien 5 to Bring Back Lance Henriksen as Bishop?
Back in October 2015, director Neill Blomkamp confirmed through social media that his long-awaited Alien 5 project was being indefinitely delayed. 20th Century Fox instead moved forward with Ridley Scott's Prometheus sequel Alien: Covenant which is set to hit theaters on October 4, 2017. While we haven't gotten any official word that Alien 5 is back on track, Lance Henriksen has faith that the project will happen.
Sigourney Weaver revealed in July that Alien 5 will ignore the events of the much-maligned sequels Alien 3 and Alien: Resurrection, which would allow the writer-director to bring back characters like Lance Henriksen's Bishop, Michael Biehn's Corporal Hicks and Carrie Henn's Newt. All of those actors have been rumored to return alongside Sigourney Weaver's Ellen Ripley. Here's what Lance Henriksen had to say about how this franchise is still a hit with fans.
Back in August, Michael Biehn insisted that the project will still happen, proclaiming that it would be "embarrassing" to 20th Century Fox if they don't give Sigourney Weaver the movie she "really wants to go out on." For now, the studio is focused on Alien: Covenant, which will be the first movie in a trilogy that will connect to the very first Alien movie. Hopefully the studio will also find some room to bring Alien 5 to life as well.
